Task 6 of the bound-override cycle: SIGNAL_OPEN_JSON_STD and its write
retire — aura new scaffolds signal.json alone, and the project CLAUDE.md
quickstart advertises run AND sweep against that one file (the sweep line
overrides the bound fast.length; --list-axes shows open + bound axes).
The data-only e2e loop proves it end to end: scaffold, run the closed
starter, sweep it via an override axis, and assert signal.json is the
only starter blueprint. The authoring-guide's starter-pair sentence is
retargeted; the last signal_open reference outside the unrelated #196
fixture string is gone.

aura new and aura nodes new follow their git init with a best-effort
initial commit (inline committer identity, warning-never-fatal, skipped
whenever the init itself was skipped per #204), so a fresh project's
first run stamps a real commit instead of an empty provenance block.

- New clap family `aura nodes new <name> [--engine-path] [--namespace]`:
scaffolds a node crate as a SIBLING of the project root (Cargo.toml
with the aura-core path-dep, the parameterized Scale starter node,
roster macro, crate-scoped .gitignore + CLAUDE.md, own git repo) and
appends the `[nodes] crates = ["../<name>"]` pointer to the project's
Aura.toml. Refuses outside a project, on any existing [nodes] section
(incl. an empty crates array), and on an existing destination; joins
the load-phase bypass beside `aura new` (a scaffolder must work in an
unbuilt tree).
- The old single-tier scaffold() is gone; the crate templates live on
in scaffold_node_crate; dead-code bridges removed with their callers.
- tests/project_nodes.rs: attach + refusals + namespace override + the
full role-2 loop (scaffold, cargo build, vocabulary resolves
<ns>::Scale end to end).
- tests/project_sweep_campaign.rs fixture reworked to the two-tier
shape (aura new + aura nodes new --namespace knob_lab); the two
campaign acceptance tests are byte-unchanged and green.
refs #241
- NewCmd drops --engine-path/--namespace (they belong to the node-crate
scaffold); dispatch_new emits Aura.toml + .gitignore + two std-only
starter blueprints + CLAUDE.md, git init, no crate, no build step.
- Two starter blueprints because run requires a closed blueprint while
sweep requires open knobs: signal.json (closed, run target) and
signal_open.json (fast.length free) — the scaffolded CLAUDE.md
quickstart lines are both verified live.
- The crate templates survive untouched for the attach verb; old
scaffold()/scaffold_spec() carry a dead-code bridge until it lands.
- project_new.rs realigned: data-only file set, no-build run headline
(stdout report, C1 byte-identity, commit-only provenance, negative
runs/ assert), advertised-sweep headline (#218 gate passes, store
lands project-local).

The `aura new` scaffold shipped one node, a param-less Identity, so a
downstream author had no public example of a build closure consuming a
bound param — the highest-value gap the project-environment fieldtest found
(F2): a newcomer could copy a param-less node but had to read engine source
to write their first *tunable* one, which the consumer contract forbids.
Swap that single starter node for a Scale node (mirroring the std gain
operator): its schema declares a `factor` ParamSpec and its build closure
reads the bound value (`|p| Box::new(Scale::new(p[0].f64()))`), and the
starter blueprint binds `factor` so `aura run` exercises the bound-param
path with zero hand-editing.
factor is bound to 1.0 — a neutral identity default the newcomer then tunes,
not the only C7-safe value (only |factor|>1 would push the terminal `bias`
output past the bounded [-1,+1] contract; the knob is genuinely read and
multiplied each cycle). The param-reading closure is the copyable template
content #183 delivers; a hypothetical `|_|` regression is caught by the
scaffold unit test's source guard, and tests/project_new.rs re-validates the
swap by building and running the scaffold end to end.
Template-side only (#181): the frozen 0102 demo-project fixture is untouched.

The `aura new` scaffold ships one node, a param-less Identity, so there is
no public example of a build closure consuming a bound param — the F2 gap
the project-environment fieldtest rated its highest-value authoring miss.
This pins the target: the rendered starter lib.rs declares a ParamSpec and
reads p[0] in its build closure, and the starter blueprint binds `factor`
on the project's own node, so `aura run` exercises the bound-param path
with zero hand-editing.

MILESTONE VERDICT: GREEN — the whole span (0106-0109) holds end to
end as one continuous consumer scenario: authored from a bare {} via
introspection alone, every ref resolved from the public surface, three
validation tiers, run by content id over two real instruments through
the full v2 pipeline, realization recorded (selection/survivors/
bootstrap/generalizations/trace_name), traces on disk and charted,
read back via campaign runs, byte-identical re-runs (C1), refusals
precise. 0 bugs, 0 frictions, 0 spec gaps; 2 doc-gaps.
F7 fixed in this commit (the docs claimed an archive-root path without
naming the key; a guessed [paths] archive silently no-ops): project-
layout and the glossary Aura.toml entry now name [paths] data, and the
aura new template advertises the commented-out key. F8 (op-script
grammar not CLI-discoverable) filed as #208, sibling of the #197 docs
half — one docwriter pass once desired.
The milestone-close gate evidence is this corpus; the formal milestone
close and the push remain user-reserved.
refs #189
The cargo-new mirror completed: a scaffold landing inside a tracked
tree no longer nests a .git (the gitlink/submodule hazard that bit the
fieldtest corpus); outside a work tree the best-effort init is
unchanged. Oracle: git rev-parse --is-inside-work-tree in the target
dir; any failure reads as not-in-a-work-tree so the init stays
best-effort.
RED-first (tdd-author handoff): the inside-a-work-tree pin observed
failing on the nested .git; the outside guard pinned against
over-removal.
Gates: workspace 1003/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
