Introduces `RtlDocEntry` and `RtlRegistration` structs to store and
manage documentation for native functions and constants. The
`Environment` struct is updated to include a registry for these
documentation entries.
The `register_native_fn` and `register_constant` methods now return an
`RtlRegistration` builder, allowing for optional chaining of `.doc()`,
`.description()`, and `.examples()` methods before the registration is
finalized when the builder is dropped.
Macros `rtl_fn!` and `rtl_const!` are introduced to simplify the
registration process with documentation.
The MCP server is extended with `get_rtl_docs` and `get_symbol_doc`
tools to expose this documentation externally.
Specific RTL functions and constants (e.g., `+`, `-`, `*`, `/`, `NaN`,
`true`, `false`, `date`, `now`, math functions, `series`, `push`, `len`,
`create-random-ohlc`, `create-ticker`, `pipe`) have been updated to
include their respective documentation using the new infrastructure.
The `Signature` and `StaticType` types have gained `to_doc_string`
methods for generating human-readable documentation strings.
This commit replaces the `UntypedNode` enum with the more accurately
named `SyntaxNode`. This change is primarily for clarity and better
reflects the role of these nodes as representing the structure of the
source code prior to semantic analysis.
The corresponding enum `UntypedKind` has also been renamed to
`SyntaxKind` to maintain consistency.
No functional changes are introduced by this refactoring; it is purely a
renaming and organizational update.
Introduces `StaticType::Optional` to represent values that can be either
of a specific type `T` or `Void`. This is crucial for handling
situations in filter pipes where an expression might not always produce
a value.
The type checker now correctly deduces and propagates this `Optional`
type, and the pipeline operator (`pipe`) is updated to unwrap
`Optional(T)` results, yielding `T`. This ensures that the type system
accurately reflects the potential absence of values in intermediate
pipeline steps.
Also includes a minor rename in the tuple-struct example from `pipe` to
`p` for clarity, and registers the `streams` module.
Introduces the streams module, defining core reactive primitives like
Signal,
Stream, Observer, RootStream, and PipeStream. This module lays the
groundwork
for building reactive data processing pipelines.
Includes new types for managing reactive data flow and a basic test
suite to
verify the functionality of RootStream and PipeStream.
Introduces a new RTL module for handling series data, enabling efficient
storage and retrieval of time-series data in a Struct-of-Arrays (SoA)
format.
Includes `SeriesView`, a zero-copy wrapper that provides a fast,
read-only interface to individual columns within a `RecordSeries`,
optimizing performance for data access in the VM.
Registers new native functions `create-series` and `push-series` for
managing series data.
Introduce the `series` module to handle time-series data storage and
manipulation. This module includes:
- `RingBuffer`: An efficient ring buffer for storing time-series data
with a configurable lookback.
- `ScalarSeries`: A type-safe series for primitive scalar values (f64,
i64, bool) optimized for performance.
- `ValueSeries`: A fallback series for non-scalar or mixed data types.
- `RecordSeries`: A "Struct of Arrays" implementation for records,
splitting fields into parallel series for efficient access.
Move the `register_math` function and its associated logic into a new
`math` module. This improves organization and separation of concerns
within the RTL AST.
Introduces `LambdaCollector` to gather lambda functions and populate the
function registry. This enables the `Specializer` to work with
user-defined functions.
The `Environment` struct is updated to manage the `function_registry`
and `monomorph_cache`, which are essential for the specialization
process.
The `link` method in `Environment` now incorporates lambda collection
and node specialization before applying TCO optimization. This ensures
that lambdas are properly processed and specialized for potential
performance gains.
The `Specializer`'s `new` constructor has been modified to accept and
initialize the `MonoCache` through an `Rc<RefCell<MonoCache>>`. This
allows the cache to be shared across different specialized functions.
Also includes minor refactoring and type adjustments in `specializer.rs`
for better clarity and consistency.
Update the testing section to clarify when warnings should be eliminated
and tests run.
Add the new `specializer` module to the compiler's public API.
Add the `type_registry` module to the `rtl` module's public API.
This commit introduces a new module `ast::rtl` to house the standard
runtime library functions for the language. It includes implementations
for arithmetic operators (+, -, *, /, //, %), logical operators (and,
or, xor, not), bitwise shifts (<<, >>), and comparison operators (=, <>,
<, >, <=, >=).
Additionally, a `date` function for parsing datetime strings has been
added. This enhances the language's capability to handle basic
mathematical and logical operations.
Add RTL functions for arithmetic and comparisons
This commit introduces the runtime library (RTL) functions for basic
arithmetic operations, logical/bitwise operations, and comparisons. It
also includes a `date` function for parsing datetime strings.
Integration tests have been updated to cover these new functionalities.
