Two pieces of the parallel-cell-loop iteration (spec: parallel-cell-loop),
still sequential — behaviour-identical results, suite green unchanged:
- validate_campaign refuses a campaign document listing the same instrument
twice (DocFault::DuplicateInstrument + CLI prose). A duplicate enumerates
two identical cells and is the one input that could make two cells share a
registry family name; with distinct instruments the per-cell family name
(all four cell axes + stage ordinal) is unique by construction, so the
upcoming parallel appends can never race one name's run-index assignment.
- aura_campaign::execute flattens the 4-nested cell loop into a document-
order-indexed cell list, groups it by instrument ordinal, and walks
sequential chunks of K instrument groups; results land in index-addressed
slots and the ordered outputs (outcomes, realizations, nominee groups) are
rebuilt in document order. K arrives as a new NonZeroUsize parameter
(default DEFAULT_PARALLEL_INSTRUMENTS = 4), exposed as
--parallel-instruments on aura campaign run and threaded through the
run_campaign chain; the dissolved-verb sugar paths pass the default.
The chunk walk is the structural RAM bound for the parallel flip that
follows: no cell of an instrument outside the current chunk can be in
flight at all (chosen over a semaphore gate — blocking inside pool tasks
risks worker starvation; decision log on #277). Verified: workspace suite
green unchanged, clippy -D warnings clean, E2E fixtures pin the CLI prose
and the document-order persistence across K.

The CLI half of by-name source binding, plus the ledger record.
Every production run site that carries a ResolvedBinding — `run_signal_r`,
`run_blueprint_member` (sweep / reproduction), and the campaign re-run/trace path —
now keys its opened sources by role name via `key_supply(binding, sources)` and
drives the harness through `Harness::run_bound` instead of the positional
`run(sources)`. `key_supply` pairs each opened column with its declared role from
`binding.entries()` — the one place open-order and role-order meet, made explicit so
`bind_sources` verifies the wiring↔supply role match by name rather than by a
maintained canonical-order convention.
Because the current single-binding CLI derives both the `SourceSpec` roles (via
`wrap_r`) and the supply roles (via `key_supply`) from the same `binding.entries()`,
the bind cannot fail on this path — so the call site asserts the invariant with
`.expect`, matching the adjacent `close_handle.expect("ResolvedBinding guarantees a
close entry")` idiom. The named `SourceBindError` refusal path lives in
`bind_sources` for future decoupled-supply callers (independently-built multi-feed /
recorded sources, #124), where a mismatch becomes reachable.
Ledger: a C4 realization note (supply resolved by name into declaration order, so
supply order is no longer load-bearing; the tie-break guarantee is unchanged) and a
scoped C23 refinement (a `SourceSpec.role` is load-bearing for source binding; every
other flat-graph name stays a non-load-bearing raw-index symbol).
The fieldtest-corpus `SourceSpec` sweep (planned Task 5) was reverted: the fieldtest
packages already fail to build against the current engine API for reasons unrelated
to `SourceSpec` (bootstrap arity, removed `InputSpec`, drifted
`Recorder`/`SimBroker`/`RMetrics`, renamed `Scalar` helpers) — pre-existing bit-rot
from earlier cycles. A partial `SourceSpec` migration neither revives nor further
breaks them, so the scope decision to touch them (premised on their being
otherwise-buildable) was withdrawn; reviving the corpus is separate from #275.
Verification: `cargo test --workspace` green (0 failed; the real-data OHLC channel
e2e exercises the migrated `run_bound` path byte-identically); `cargo build
--workspace --all-targets` clean; `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -D
warnings` clean.
Drift review (architect) over a55e4cf..HEAD found the cycle substantially
clean — C25 closed vocabulary, C1 determinism/behaviour-preservation, the
additive-serde widening, exhaustive StageBlock matches, and the uniform exit-3
convention all hold. Two drift items resolved:
- RATIFY: the `SilencedPanic` member-boundary panic-hook silencer (added by the
#272 implementer, not named in the spec) is a legitimate mechanism — it keeps
"recorded, campaign continues" observably true on stderr by suppressing the
default crash backtrace around each contained `catch_unwind`. Its mutex
serialises only the ref-count/hook-swap (O(1)), never member computation, so
C1 disjoint-parallel determinism is preserved. Documented in the ledger's
#272 realization paragraph rather than left as undocumented global state.
- FIX: `cell_fault_kind_label` hand-wrote the snake_case strings that must match
`CellFaultKind`'s serde `rename_all` (two sources of truth an aggregate over
campaign_runs.jsonl could silently diverge from). Pinned with a test asserting
each label equals the serialized form; the efficient `&'static str` stays.
(The #272 commit's own concern-driven doc fixes and the wf panic-containment
test landed in d3b1a1a; this commit carries only the two audit-phase items.)
Suite: cargo test --workspace green (1311 tests, 0 failed); clippy clean.
closes#272
A member fault (no-data, bind, run, or a caught panic) is now a recorded
per-cell outcome instead of aborting the whole campaign and discarding every
already-computed cell. The incident that motivated this (a 22-instrument
campaign lost ~36 healthy cells ~6.7 min in because Copper had an archive gap)
now completes: the healthy cells persist, the gap cell is recorded as failed,
and the run exits 3.
Direction (owner decision 2026-07-14): run to completion and report
compromised results; no coverage preflight, no window synthesis.
Containment granularity:
- The CELL for a sweep-stage member fault (a grid hole structurally
compromises winner selection, so the whole cell fails).
- The FOLD for a walk_forward member fault (independent time windows): the
surviving folds pool into the family, failed folds are recorded as
StageRealization.window_faults, and the summary names the ratio.
- aura-registry: additive CellFault / CellFaultKind (closed:
no_data|bind|run|panic|window) / WindowFault / CellCoverage, plus
fault/coverage fields on CellRealization and window_faults on
StageRealization — all serde-default-skipped, so pre-#272 campaign_runs
lines parse and round-trip byte-identical.
- aura-campaign: run_cell returns a fault-annotated CellRealization instead of
Err (execute's accumulate-then-append-once tail is unchanged and now
persists every healthy cell + the one run record); a `contain` split keeps
ExecFault::Registry and doc-shape preflight faults global while Member/Window
become per-cell/per-fold. Member panics are caught with
catch_unwind(AssertUnwindSafe) at all three member-run sites (sweep IS/OOS)
and recorded as MemberFault::Panic — a member panic no longer aborts the
process. The wf stage partitions Registry faults (global) from Member/Window
(per-fold) and filters faulted-fold placeholders (the
"faulted-member-placeholder" broker sentinel) out of the persisted family.
- aura-cli: exec_fault_prose gains the Panic arm; CliMemberRunner::window_coverage
derives effective bounds + interior gap months from the #264 archive
primitives; present_campaign prints per-cell failure notes + a completion
summary and threads the failed-cell count; a run with >=1 failed cell exits 3
("completed with failed cells") uniformly across `aura campaign run` and the
dissolved sweep/walkforward/mc/generalize verbs (exit_on_campaign_result).
Usage stays 2, refused-before-running stays 1, clean stays 0.
Tests: the global-abort pins flip to containment (execute + the two wf fault
tests → fold-containment + all-folds-fail-the-cell); new panic-containment
tests on both the sweep path (PanicRunner) and the wf path (this commit adds
the wf mirror the loop left uncovered); a new gapped-archive e2e (one covered
cell + one gap cell → exit 3); the ~14 CLI exit-1 pins move to the exit-3
register; a pre-#272-line byte-identical round-trip guard.
Suite: cargo test --workspace green (1309 tests, 0 failed); clippy clean.
Decision log: #272 comments (fork rationale, the fold Registry/Member split,
the placeholder sentinel, uniform exit-3).
Follow-up (minor, not blocking): the plan under-scoped Task 1 to aura-registry
though the additive fields also touch aura-campaign's exec.rs literals — the
loop absorbed it mechanically; a future plan for a cross-crate additive-field
change should scope every crate's construction sites in the first task.
The second risk-regime variant vol_tf{period_minutes, length, k}
computes the vol estimator over completed time buckets: an H1 signal
gets an H1-matched stop in the research matrix instead of a hand-scaled
minute stop (the issue's k-inflation workaround retires). Additive
externally-tagged serde (stored Vol documents keep their content ids);
the executor arm wires the VolTfStop primitive via the builder+bind
chain; validate checks period_minutes/length/k positivity per regime.
The member-manifest round-trip holds for both variants (C1): vol_tf
members stamp stop_period_minutes/stop_length/stop_k and the reproduce
path re-derives the VolTf stop whenever stop_period_minutes is present
— never a silent default-Vol fallback. The Regimes slot label and the
unit notes name the new variant (period_minutes IS the stop's
timescale); glossary, authoring guide, and design ledger record the
second variant. Default regime and sugar paths byte-untouched.
Coverage: node units (rollover-only emission, bucket-delta math, the
constant-|delta| correspondence with the per-cycle regime), executor
fold, serde/validate units, the manifest round-trip unit, and a
hostless two-regime e2e (distinct ordinals; vol_tf members stamp their
timescale, vol members do not).
closes#262
Each cost component's knob (cost_per_trade / slip_vol_mult /
carry_per_cycle) now accepts one number for every cell — today's form,
byte-identical on the wire so stored documents keep their content ids
(CostValue's custom serde, the Axis precedent) — or an instrument-keyed
map resolved per cell at member construction. A mixed-scale matrix
(GER40 ~2e4, EURUSD ~1.1) keeps consistent cost units in ONE document:
the N-copies workaround retires and generalize-under-constant-costs
becomes expressible again.
Validation is strict both ways at the intrinsic tier: a map missing a
campaign instrument, or naming one the campaign does not list, refuses
at validate with prose naming the component and instruments (no silent
default — a partial map would reproduce exactly the silent unit
inconsistency the issue reports). The instrument threads through
cost_knob/cost_nodes_for/run_blueprint_member from the cell (run side
and persist re-run side receive the same value — the C1 drift-alarm
lockstep); the manifest stamps the resolved per-cell value under the
unchanged cost[k].<knob> key, and the sugar/reproduce paths pass an
inert instrument (their specs are scalar by construction). Fork
decisions and the discarded first attempt: issue #260 comments.
New coverage: serde round-trips (map form; scalar stays bare), validate
cross-check units, both prose directions pinned, and two hostless e2es
over the synthetic SYMA+SYMB archive — per-cell resolution visible in
the member manifests, and the validate refusal.
closes#260
RunManifest gains defaults: Vec<(String, Scalar)> — the wrap-prefixed
bound_param_space() of the signal, read after axis reopening, so a
bound param an axis overrode has already left the space and flows
through params instead (disjoint by construction; verified end to end:
a sweep member's overridden fast.length sits in params while
slow.length/bias.scale sit in defaults). params keeps its "what varied"
semantics and stays the reproduce input. One-directional serde
widening (#[serde(default)]) per the selection/instrument/topology_hash
idiom — old records deserialize with an empty defaults; unlike the
Option fields it always serializes, mirroring params. ~20
struct-literal sites across five crates gained the field
(compile-mandated breadth, no behaviour change at those sites).
The C14 ledger records the underlying decision (2026-07-13): generated
outcome records spend redundancy on direct readability (single writer,
cannot drift); authored intent artifacts admit none (every redundancy
is a drift site) — so the fix lands in the manifest, never the
blueprint.
Verification: RED test run_manifest_stamps_untouched_bound_defaults
green; cargo build --workspace; cargo test --workspace green; clippy
-D warnings on the touched crates; binary-level sweep exclusivity
check.
Task 5 of the bound-override cycle. The campaign executor and its gates
accept an axis naming a bound param everywhere the open surface was
already accepted: CliMemberRunner::run_member re-opens the override set
on the cell's probe space and raw reload (raw_bound_overrides_of — the
campaign document's axis names live in strategy coordinates, matched
against bound_param_space directly), the P3 preflight in
validate_before_register threads the same set so the executable-shape
check passes, and aura-registry's validate_campaign_refs treats a bound
name as a valid axis (open space wins the arm order; the kind check
still faults a mismatched axis over a bound path).
The CLI-side helper family is named by coordinate system now:
wrapped_bound_overrides_of (wrap-prefixed, sweep/wf/reproduce) beside
raw_bound_overrides_of (campaign). A fresh post-block quality review
found no correctness defect; its two stale-comment findings (renamed
helpers cited under their old names) are fixed in this commit.
refs #246
Task 3-4 of the bound-override cycle. The family boundary derives the
override set from the invocation's axes (override_paths: an axis in the
open space passes through, one naming a bound param re-opens it in
strategy coordinates, one matching neither is refused with a message
pointing at --list-axes) and threads it through the axis probe and every
per-member reload (blueprint_axis_probe_reopened / reopen_all), so probe
and members stay slot-identical. The 'fully bound; nothing to sweep'
refusal retires; identity stays the authored document (the topology_hash
probe reload is never re-opened).
--list-axes now prints the bound surface after the open knobs — one
'<bp>.<node>.<param>:<KIND> default=<value>' line per bound param,
unconditionally (a bound param is an equally re-openable axis regardless
of how many knobs are open beside it).
Walk-forward (blueprint_sweep_over, blueprint_walkforward_family,
run_oos_blueprint) and reproduce (reproduce_family_in plus the
campaign-side trace re-run) derive the same set silently from recorded
manifest param names (bound_overrides_of), so a family that swept an
overridden bound param re-derives bit-identically.
refs #246
persist_taps_from now filters the tap vocabulary through campaign_run's
own tap_channel classification (exposed pub(crate)) and drops the net
channel: every generated sugar campaign carries an empty cost section by
construction, so net_r_equity was unproducible there and the executor's
skip notice named a remedy (add a cost block to the campaign document)
unreachable from the sweep/walkforward verb. The authored-campaign path
keeps the notice verbatim — there the user wrote the document and the
remedy is reachable. The two full-vocabulary pins move to the producible
subset (deliberate pin move, documented in their doc comments).

Architect review over dd23ea3..HEAD (the #234/#152 cycle, 6 commits).
What holds (architect-confirmed): CostSpec is a closed, deny-unknown-
fields vocabulary with typed slots mirroring RiskRegime, field names
conforming to the builders' ParamSpec names; cost-less docs hash
byte-identically (C18); cost threads through the single MemberRunner
seam so every campaign stage nets uniformly; costed families reproduce
bit-identically incl. Carry; the #221-deleted leg is rebuilt optional
(net = gross under the empty model); both cost_graph leaks replaced by
the interned single source (#152).
Resolved this close: [high] the C10 realization notes contradicted
shipped reality — the two 'wired on the run path via --cost-*' claims
carry superseded-annotations, the 0084 carried-debt note a discharged-
annotation, and a new cycle-net-r realization documents the campaign
cost block, the net-by-default decision, the manifest/reproduce
round-trip, and the returned net_r_equity tap; [medium] two dangling
persist_traces_r docstring references reworded to what exists;
[medium] the one-knob-per-cost-node invariant behind the manifest
round-trip is now unit-pinned (exactly one distinctly-named knob per
shipped builder).
Cycle spec and plan (git-ignored working files) discarded per
convention.
refs #234
TapChannel gains Net; tap_channel routes the full closed vocabulary
(producibility moved to the caller); the trace path drains the sixth
channel and persists the cost-adjusted net curve. A cost-less document
requesting net_r_equity keeps a skip notice, reworded to name the
remedy (add a cost block) — not a refusal. Two deliberate pin moves:
the absence pin re-pins to routed, the skip-notice e2e re-pins to the
reworded form. Post-review: positive write-path e2e added (a costed
GER40 campaign lands net_r_equity.json with the curve differing from
r_equity by the accrued costs).
Verified: routing pin + positive e2e green (real archive), full
workspace suite green, clippy -D warnings clean.
refs #234
cost_nodes_for (beside stop_rule_for_regime) is the one CostSpec ->
bound-builder binding — every component fully bound, so the wrapped
param space stays cost-invariant. run_blueprint_member joins the cost
rows into summarize_r (member metrics genuinely net) and stamps the
cost components into the manifest params; CliMemberRunner threads the
doc's cost. The re-run sides re-derive the model from the manifest:
reproduce via cost_specs_from_params (the #233 stop pattern — a costed
family reproduces bit-identically) and persist_campaign_traces binds
the same model so the C1 drift alarm compares like with like.
Hand-computed pin: a constant cost model yields
net_expectancy_r == expectancy_r - cost_per_trade/|entry-stop| on a
synthetic member.
Verified: full workspace suite green, clippy -D warnings clean; in-loop
spec + quality gates passed per task.
refs #234
wrap_r accepts an optional CostLeg (cost node builders + the tx_cost/
tx_net channels); non-empty rebuilds the #221-deleted wiring — the
cost_graph fed by the executor's four geometry outputs, the vol-proxy
RollingMax/RollingMin/Sub (back from cfg(test) to production) feeding
each vol_slippage component, the interned cost[k].* names, a gated
4-col cost recorder in reduce mode (the summarize_r join input), and
the LinComb(4) net_r_equity curve in !reduce. All callers pass None —
behaviour-preserving; the entire suite green unchanged is the gate.
Co-temporality of cost rows with R rows unit-pinned.
Verified: full workspace suite green unchanged, clippy -D warnings
clean; in-loop spec compliant + quality approved (one held Minor: the
CostLeg doc's forward reference to cost_nodes_for, which task 4 lands).
refs #234
DataSection gains an additive bindings block (role -> column; serde
default + skip-if-empty, so binding-less documents keep their content
ids — pinned). Validation is two-tier along the existing line: the
intrinsic tier checks binding VALUES against the column vocabulary
(DocFault::UnknownBindingColumn, alias-annotated display register); the
resolver tier checks binding KEYS against the loaded strategies'
input_roles() (RefFault::BindingRoleUnknown — a key must name a role of
at least one campaign strategy). A cross-surface pin keeps the doc-tier
vocabulary and the CLI binding module from drifting.
CliMemberRunner threads the campaign overrides into resolve_binding on
BOTH halves (column opening and wrap), keeping the C1 drift alarm
comparing like-with-like; the verb sugar passes no bindings (name
defaults rule).
Proof: an archive-gated campaign e2e rebinds price -> open and yields
different realized metrics from the close-bound run; refusal prose
exact-pinned at both tiers.
Verified: full workspace suite green, clippy -D warnings clean;
independent quality review, all findings repaired.
refs #231
The six Close-only open sites route through the resolved binding's
column set via open_columns (probe_window, open_real_source,
run_sources/windowed_sources, the campaign member open, the trace
re-run open) — a strategy declaring high/low/close roles gets exactly
those columns, merged in the canonical C4 order. Synthetic data refuses
any binding beyond {close} with the honest --real remedy (the walk
generates a close series only); the sweep/mc family builders ride their
established Err contract, run/walkforward/reproduce refuse exit-1.
Proof at two layers: an engine e2e composes an OHLC blueprint from data
and runs it over four inline VecSources to hand-computed rows (the
merge-order pin), and an archive-gated CLI e2e sweeps a high/low
blueprint over GER40 opening the High and Low columns.
Verified: engine OHLC e2e green, full workspace suite green, clippy -D
warnings clean.
refs #231
Behaviour-preserving threading: wrap_r's hard-wired
source_role("price") weld is gone — root roles now come from a
ResolvedBinding, one per entry in canonical column order, each fed into
the signal's same-named port; the guaranteed close entry always feeds
broker + executor (whose 'price' is a node-schema port name, not a
role). Every existing blueprint resolves to the identical single-price
plan, so the entire suite is the gate: green unchanged.
Threaded through all callers: run_signal_r, run_blueprint_member (+ its
production and test callers), blueprint_axis_probe (lenient probe
binding), reproduce_family_in, the sweep/oos/walkforward/mc family
builders, CliMemberRunner::run_member, persist_campaign_traces.
Vocabulary role names use their static form at the port seam; only an
override-renamed role leaks its name once per graph build (post-review
polish capping the per-member leak).
Verified: full workspace suite green unchanged, clippy -D warnings
clean.

--trace <fam> now translates through the verb sugar into a persist_taps
campaign-presentation block (was persist_taps: vec![] — the #168 no-op)
and persist_campaign_traces writes EVERY member of a selection-free
swept cell, one subdirectory per member under the cell dir, keyed by
the member's manifest params label in reproduce's exact format
(filesystem-sanitized, ordinal fallback); nominee cells keep their flat
layout. Members re-run at the cell's own stop regime and resolved pip,
streaming one member at a time, with the C1 drift alarm preserved per
member. The walkforward sibling lifts identically; run/mc --trace stay
refused by design (no campaign context / no family-name concept — their
help was already honest). Clap help lines and the chart NotFound hint
restored; the old #168 refusal pins re-pinned to the delivered
behaviour.
Post-review repairs: member_trace_key + cell_member_fanout extracted
pure and unit-pinned (6 tests), persisted_cells counts cells again,
cell-invariant space/geo hoisted out of the member loop, verb_sugar
tail comment corrected.
Verified: headline e2e green (GER40 archive), cli_run 124/0, full
workspace suite green, clippy -D warnings clean; independent spec
review compliant, quality review findings all repaired.

wrap_r hardwired SimBroker::builder(SYNTHETIC_PIP_SIZE); the resolved
geometry-sidecar pip reached only the manifest broker label, so every
real-data run computed total_pips/max_drawdown at 0.0001 regardless of
instrument (GER40 pip=1: inflated 10^4) while the label claimed the
real pip.
wrap_r now takes pip_size. Real-pip call sites pass the resolved pip:
run_signal_r (resolve_run_data reordered before the wrap),
run_blueprint_member, and the campaign trace re-run in
persist_campaign_traces (instrument_geometry lookup mirroring the
run_member refusal — required so the C1 drift alarm compares re-run
and nominee at the same pip). Probe-only call sites (param-space and
axis probes; metrics discarded) keep SYNTHETIC_PIP_SIZE explicitly.
The two golden stitched_total_pips pins in cli_run.rs rescaled by
exactly the 10^4 bug factor while n_trades/expectancy_r stayed
byte-identical — confirming R metrics were never pip-contaminated.
Alternative rejected: dropping pip-denominated metrics from real-data
reports — the manifest already stamps the resolved pip, so running the
graph at it restores label truthfulness without shrinking the report.
Verified: full workspace suite green (0 failed incl. the real-data e2e
suite), clippy -D warnings clean.

Behaviour-preserving removal of the unreachable single-run cost seam: no

vol_proxy arm, CostConfig, SLIP_VOL_LENGTH, and the 4 inert cost imports;
RollingMax/RollingMin/Sub move to #[cfg(test)] (last production caller
gone). The cost_graph composite stays alive in aura-composites; the
campaign/sweep reduce path (C10) is untouched. Decision + rationale on the
issue. Suite green unchanged (62 groups), clippy clean.

The persist-side C1 drift alarm re-ran every nominee under the hardcoded
default vol-stop because CellRealization dropped the regime at the record
boundary — a non-default risk regime + persist taps false-failed C1 and
refused to persist a correct trace; two regimes over the same cell would
also have collided in one trace dir.
Fix at the record boundary: CellRealization carries regime + regime_ordinal
(serde-default + skip-serializing keeps pre-existing stored records
byte-stable), populated where the cell is realized; the regime->StopRule
binding is single-sourced in stop_rule_for_regime, shared by the member
runner and the persist re-run so the two sites cannot drift apart again;
campaign_cell_key appends -r{regime_ordinal} for non-default regimes
(default keys unchanged, no stored dir renamed).

Cut 1b of the hard-wired demo retirement — the removal half. With the proven
example shipped in cut 1, delete the r-sma builder and its whole transitive
closure so no production function constructs the r-sma topology any more; it
exists only as data (crates/aura-cli/examples/r_sma{,_open}.json).
Deleted: sma_signal (the builder), r_sma_graph, run_r_sma (aura run --harness
r-sma), r_sma_sweep_family (aura sweep --strategy r-sma), the synthetic inline
r-sma walkforward/mc machinery (r_sma_space/r_sma_sweep_over/run_oos_r/
run_mc_r_bootstrap/mc_r_bootstrap_report + the walkforward_family RSma arm), both
fixture emitters, the round-trip + cut-1 byte-fidelity tests, the R_SMA_FAST/
SLOW/BIAS_SCALE consts, and the Strategy::RSma / HarnessKind::RSma / McArgs::RealR
variants. The three dissolved-verb synth sites (generalize/walkforward/mc
--strategy r-sma --real) now embed the shipped open example via include_str!
instead of building it — byte-safe, guarded by the unchanged dissolved-verb
real-archive goldens. The two now-redundant fixtures move to the examples
(deleted, ~40 readers repointed). The --cost-* flags on `aura run` retire with
the harness (their sole consumer was run_r_sma; cost-model coverage survives
engine/std/composites-level).
The retired demo surfaces (--harness r-sma, sweep/walkforward/mc --strategy r-sma
inline) have working data successors: aura run examples/r_sma.json, aura sweep
examples/r_sma_open.json --axis …, and the --strategy r-sma --real campaign path.
Deviation from the plan, noted: StopArm collapsed to StopRule in wrap_r's
signature (its only other variant, Open, died with r_sma_graph) — cleaner than
the planned vestigial single-variant enum; behaviour-preserving, touching
campaign_run.rs and the r-breakout/r-meanrev call sites.
Follow-up (not this cut): wrap_r's cost-node-building branch is now unreachable
(nothing passes Some(CostConfig) after run_r_sma's deletion) yet clippy-clean —
a latent cleanup for when the inline cost surface fully retires.
The stage1-r param-suffix remapping (r_sma_friendly_name + the FAST/SLOW/
STOP_LENGTH/STOP_K_SUFFIX consts) went dead and was removed, closing #167 by
deletion.
Verification (own, not the workflow's report): full `cargo test --workspace`
green; `cargo clippy --workspace --all-targets -- -D warnings` clean, no
dead-code residue; the cut-1 grade anchor (shipped_r_sma_example_reproduces_the_
builtin_grade) and the dissolved-verb real goldens (generalize/walkforward/mc
_dissolves_through_the_campaign_path) stay byte-identical. A first workflow
attempt was discarded after a subagent's `git checkout -- main.rs` recovery
silently reverted earlier tasks' edits (filed on the plugin tracker as
Brummel/Skills#23); this landing is the hardened re-run, verified by hand.

The runtime-binding slice — the regime's stop now actually reaches the graph and
the record:
- `StopArm { Open, Bound(StopRule) }` replaces `wrap_r`'s `stop_open: bool` so a
bound stop carries its params; all call sites threaded (the r-sma sweep path
stays Open, every bound site passes the resolved rule).
- `run_blueprint_member` takes a `stop: StopRule` and stamps `stop_length` /
`stop_k` into the member manifest (the ratified C18 extension — the stop is no
longer invisible on the campaign/blueprint path); its callers thread the
default, and `CliMemberRunner` maps `cell.regime` (None -> baked default,
Some(Vol) -> that vol stop).
- The characterization pin flips from asserting the stop's ABSENCE to requiring
the stamped default; a real two-regime e2e pins that each regime stamps its
own k.
Known deferred gap (concern, documented descope): `persist_campaign_traces`
re-runs the nominee to persist its traces and — since `CellRealization` carries
no regime — binds that re-run to the DEFAULT stop, so a non-default-regime
nominee's persisted trace would reflect the wrong stop. Only the persist path
(non-empty `persist_taps`) is affected; the core run/stamp/generalize path is
correct. Filed as a follow-up. Full workspace suite green.

Three test-first fixes from the cycle-0110 fieldtest findings:
- Axis-name preflight on the dissolved sweep arm: every --axis name is
checked against the wrapped probe namespace (the --list-axes names)
BEFORE the #203 strip; an unknown or raw-form name is refused
house-style echoing exactly what the user typed, with a --list-axes
pointer — no more stripped-then-mangled fragments from the deep
referential refusal. Data-free, fires before the archive is touched.
- Validate-before-register in the sweep sugar: intrinsic doc checks +
executor preflight + the pure bind_axes coverage check (reused, not
re-inlined; now pub(crate)) all run in-memory before
register_generated — a refused invocation leaves no generated
document in the content-addressed store and no campaign_runs.jsonl
line (previously P2/P3 refusals littered runs/campaigns, one doc
malformed).
- blueprint_slot_prose: the sweep/walkforward/mc loaded-blueprint slots
share one dispatch-boundary presenter — an op-script array gets a
targeted 'run aura graph build first' hint, every load error goes
through blueprint_load_prose + the missing-project hint, and the raw
{e:?} Debug leak (#184's pattern, deliberately left on these three
slots back then) is gone. Two stale Debug-leak pins flipped, two new
refusal tests.
Suite 1060/0, clippy -D warnings clean.

Architect review (scope e7c7bde..b7aaa0b) found three items; resolutions:
- fix: docs/authoring-guide.md + glossary aligned with the shipped
vocabulary (std::sweep selection group optional/all-or-nothing,
selection-free = terminal-only, worked example verified against the
live binary).
- fix: the #203 wrapped/raw axis-name convention is now single-sourced
in campaign_run.rs (wrapped_to_raw_axis + raw_matches_wrapped, a
cross-documented inverse pair; dispatch_sweep and both bind sites
call through it; inverse-property unit test). Ratify note: this
unifies two previously different algorithms onto the documented
first-segment semantics — the old loose ends_with suffix-match also
accepted sub-segment shorthands (e.g. axis "length" against
"sma_signal.fast.length") that no stored document or test used;
such shorthands now refuse loudly (unbound/unknown axis) instead of
matching, the refuse-don't-guess reading of #203.
- carry: run_blueprint_sweep/blueprint_sweep_family remain generically
real-capable though the dispatch no longer routes real data to them;
the residual capability is shared DataSource machinery, its removal
falls out with the built-in/synthetic branch retirement (#159), and
the synthetic-only status is documented at the fn.
What holds: C24 canonical form (flatten group leaves every stored
content id unchanged, golden pin untouched), C18 lineage (topology_hash
IS content_id_of, single store write resolves the strategy ref;
selection-free arm still persists the full family), C25 closed-
vocabulary discipline (all-or-nothing group, Blockly-clean), C3 (ms/ns
conversion through the ingest seam's own named fn).
Ledger: #109 open-thread status lifted to cycles 0107-0110 reality
(executor shipped, amendment package landed, verb dissolution running
as milestone #210 with sweep dissolved).
Regression gates: cargo test --workspace 1056/0; clippy -D warnings
clean; cargo doc clean. Cycle spec+plan removed at close per
convention.
refs #210
aura sweep <bp.json> --real ... --axis ... now runs as thin sugar over
its generated campaign document through the one campaign executor: the
dispatch registers the canonical blueprint (topology_hash IS
content_id_of over the same canonical bytes, so the strategy ref
resolves against the existing single store write), strips the CLI's
wrapped axis names to the raw campaign namespace (#203 bind
convention), converts the probed archive window back through the
ingest seam's own epoch_ns_to_unix_ms (made pub; C3 — the seam owns
the ms/ns convention, never an inline division), and hands off to
verb_sugar::run_sweep_sugar. The inline real-data arm is gone; the
synthetic arm and --list-axes are untouched.
campaign_run gains RunPresentation {Full, MemberLinesOnly}:
run_campaign keeps Full (record line unchanged, project gate
unchanged); the sugar path runs MemberLinesOnly — the generated doc's
emit already limits stdout to family_table member lines, the mode
suppresses only the final record line. The record append is identical
in both modes; no project gate on the by-id path (the dissolved verb
works project-less, exactly as before).
The characterization pin survives the re-cut with exactly the one
sanctioned assertion flip (instrument-absence -> instrument==GER40)
and now also pins the generated artifacts: one process + one campaign
document auto-registered (dedup on a second identical invocation),
raw axis keys in the stored document, the stored window a ms sub-range
of the request, C1 at the member-report level with the registry's
run-suffix increment isolated.
Suite 1055/0, clippy clean, gated real-data paths executed locally.
refs #210
The std::sweep selection triple (metric/select/deflate) becomes ONE
optional group, Option<SweepSelection>, serde-flattened so the wire
form keeps the flat slots: every existing document parses to Some and
its canonical bytes — and content id — are unchanged (golden pin
byte-untouched). A half-populated group is refused by the schema-strict
parser (all-or-nothing); a bare {"block":"std::sweep"} is the
selection-free sweep.
Campaign side: preflight permits a selection-free sweep only as the
pipeline's terminal stage (new ExecFault::SelectionFreeSweepNotTerminal,
prose in aura-cli's exhaustive exec_fault_prose); the executor's
selection-free arm appends the family exactly as before but records no
StageSelection and produces no nominee (recording one would fabricate
intent — #210 fork decision 1).
Introspection follows: the sweep block's schema table marks the group
optional; CLI introspection pins updated. New tests: group-or-nothing
refusals, selection-free round-trip + distinct content id, terminal-only
preflight accept/refuse, selection-free execute realization.
refs #210
Architect verdict: drift_found — the code holds (C1 honored not
assumed: the nominee re-run's metrics-equality hard refusal; C22/C14
clean: existing TraceStore + unchanged viewer, serde-default widening
round-trips, name composition single-sourced in derive_trace_name).
Resolved here:
- C18: the 0107 paragraph's 'persist_taps is deferred' points forward;
new cycle-0109 realization paragraph records the closed tap
vocabulary + UnknownTap tier, the nominee-only non-reduce re-run
with the C1 metrics guard, the campaign trace family layout, the
trace_name claim contract, the loud-skip lines, and the noted
chart-over-family-root debt.
- Glossary: tap entry names the closed vocabulary + escalation rule;
campaign document's presentation clause references it; campaign run
gains the trace_name pointer.
- Debt fixed inline (architect med): tap_channel gains the
emit_vocabulary-twin debug_assert cross-pin so a fifth vocabulary
tap fails loudly instead of silently skipping.
The consumed 0108 fieldtest spec is removed with the cycle's spec+plan
(all its dispositions shipped: F6 #205, F8 #207, F11 #206, F7/F9/F10
doc-tightens).
Regression: cargo test --workspace 1041/0; clippy -D warnings clean;
cargo doc 0 warnings.
refs #201
The deferral line dies; persist_taps is honored: after execute()
returns with a claimed trace_name, the CLI re-runs each cell's nominee
once in non-reduce mode (all four channels drained; windowed to the
nominee manifest's own ns bounds; bound via the shipped
point_from_params inverse against the wrapped probe space), asserts
METRICS equality against the recorded nominee (the C1 drift alarm —
hard refusal on divergence), and writes the requested-and-producible
taps through the existing TraceStore as
traces/{campaign8}-{run}/{strategy8}-{instrument}-w{n}/{tap}.json
(ensure_name_free once; window ordinal doc-derived by position match).
Loud lines: per-cell no-nominee skip, per-run net_r_equity
unproducible skip (no cost leg in the campaign runner), one summary.
The Task-1(b) seam test tightened to pin the deferral line's absence.
Gated e2e extended: persist_taps [equity, r_equity] over GER40 —
trace_name in the record, both tap files on disk, aura chart reads
the cell back — ran its FULL path on this host (local archive
present), not the skip branch.
Gates: workspace 1041/0, clippy -D warnings clean.

--metrics now tags the four generalizable names (expectancy_r,
net_expectancy_r, sqn, sqn_normalized) via check_r_metric as the
predicate — the registry's own R-expectancy rule, no fourth roster
site (#190). The GeneralizeNonRMetric refusal names the real rule
with the roster pointer instead of mislabeling R-denominated-but-
unranked metrics (max_r_drawdown is a drawdown in R, not a 'pip
metric').
RED-first (tdd-author handoff): the extended --metrics pins and the
flipped prose pins (unit + seam) observed failing on the old output.
Gates: workspace 1026/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
closes#207
valid == runnable for every pure document/campaign property: inside a
project, once intrinsic + referential pass, validate fetches the
referenced process from the store and runs the data-free
aura_campaign::preflight (promoted to pub) — an executable shape gains
'campaign document valid (executable): pipeline shape and static
guards pass'; a shape/param/metric/instrument fault refuses under
'campaign is not executable:' with the exec_fault_prose detail, exit 1,
before any member runs. Outside a project the skip line is unchanged
(the third tier needs the store like the second).
Collateral the RED author predicted: the referential e2e's OK fixture
(PROCESS_DOC: deflate+plateau sweep, overfit_probability gate) was
intrinsically-valid-but-never-executable — that test now registers an
executable twin (argmax/no-deflate, per-member gate metric); the base
PROCESS_DOC fixture stays untouched for all other consumers.
RED-first (tdd-author handoff): the third-tier pin observed failing on
the two-line validate output.
Gates: workspace 1026/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
closes#205
Task 1: RBootstrap and Generalization gain serde derives;
lineage.rs gains StageBootstrap (per_survivor | pooled_oos) and
CampaignGeneralization; StageRealization.bootstrap and
CampaignRunRecord.generalizations land serde-default sparse (a
pre-0108 campaign_runs.jsonl line still parses — pinned), threaded
None/empty through every literal site. No behaviour change.
Task 2: ExecFault::UnsupportedStage is gone; the preflight now admits
the v2 shape sweep [gate]* [wf]? [mc]? [generalize]? via a monotone
rank walk (precise per-pair PipelineShape prose) and statically
refuses: single-instrument generalize (GeneralizeNeedsInstruments),
non-R generalize metrics via check_r_metric (GeneralizeNonRMetric —
no fourth roster site), zero mc params (ZeroBootstrapParam). CLI
prose swapped accordingly. The loop's E2E phase added a tier-boundary
pin: process validate accepts [sweep, mc, walk_forward] while campaign
run refuses it data-free.
KNOWN RED (documented in the plan, flips in task 5):
crates/aura-cli/tests/research_docs.rs::campaign_run_v1_boundary_refuses_mc_process
still pins the retired 'not executable in v1' prose. Interim gates:
registry 57/0, campaign 33/0, cli --bin 111/0, workspace build clean.
refs #200
The 17-name metric vocabulary lists with applicability tags derived
from aura-campaign's existing pub rosters (rankable | gate |
annotation) — no fourth roster site (#190); the mode rides the shared
introspect struct and answers for both doc families. The three
metric refusals (intrinsic unknown-metric, executor unrankable and
gate-not-per-member) now point at the mode, so the
exists-but-not-rankable split (profit_factor is emitted per member yet
not selectable) is no longer trial-and-error.
RED-first (tdd-author handoff): six same-seam pins (roster lines +
tags, one-mode guard incl. the extended usage line, both-families
parity, three refusal pointers) observed failing, then the mode +
hints landed.
The worked-examples half of #197 stays open (docwriter territory
post-stability, per the issue itself).
Gates: workspace 1001/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
refs #197
The copyable token is now the valid ref form everywhere: all three
register lines print 'registered <family> <id> (<path>)' and both doc
introspect --content-id modes print the bare 64-hex id (converging on
graph introspect's existing form). CLI FILE-or-id targets (campaign
run, graph introspect --params) strip a leading 'content:' before
resolving — a CLI arg is ephemeral input, leniency costs nothing. Doc
ref FIELDS stay bare-only (two accepted spellings would make
semantically identical docs hash apart — canonical-form byte
stability outranks input leniency); instead the referential not-found
prose appends 'refs use the bare 64-hex id — drop the content: prefix'
when the offending ref carries it.
RED-first (tdd-author handoff): eight same-seam assertions across the
three surfaces observed failing on the prefixed forms, then the five
display sites, two target ladders, and the conditional hint landed.
Gates: workspace 993/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
closes#194
validate == runnable (fieldtest 0107 F7): validate_campaign_refs now
checks the reverse direction — every open param of the resolved
strategy must be bound by some campaign axis — emitting the new
RefFault::ParamNotCovered { strategy, param } with the RAW
param_space() path; ref_fault_prose phrases it ('open param "X" is
bound by no campaign axis'). The executor's every-open-knob-required
rule is thereby mirrored at validate time, and campaign run's
referential gate catches an uncovered knob before any member binds.
The e2e fixture that legitimately under-covered (fast only) gains the
slow.length axis.
Second half, RED-first: the member-bind refusal no longer leaks the
wrapped bind-time path — it names the raw campaign-axis namespace with
the wrapped path as a parenthetical ('open param "threshold" ...
(wrapped path: sma.threshold)').
RED evidence: E0599 on the pinned ParamNotCovered test (tdd-author
handoff), then the flipped bind_axes prose pin observed failing on the
wrapped form.
Gates: workspace 988/0, clippy -D warnings clean.
closes#203
Closes the F5 authoring gap: a campaign's strategy ref + axes are now
authorable from the public surface without running a sweep first.
'aura graph register <blueprint.json>' puts the canonical form into the
content-addressed store (id == topology hash) and prints the stored
path via the pub blueprint_path accessor; 'aura graph introspect
--params <FILE|64-hex-ID>' lists the RAW composite param_space — the
exact namespace campaign axes are validated against (the wrapped
--list-axes namespace stays the sweep-verb view); --content-id gains an
optional FILE that shape-discriminates a blueprint envelope from an
op-list document (stdin behaviour byte-identical without FILE).
is_content_id promoted pub(crate) and shared with graph_construct so
the two FILE-or-id surfaces cannot drift on the id shape.
RED evidence was produced retroactively by the loop (stash-probe: the
5 new tests fail for the expected reasons without the src changes) —
ordering deviation noted, outcome unaffected.
Gates: graph_ 46/0, workspace 987/0, clippy -D warnings clean.

campaign_run.rs: target resolution (file is register-then-run sugar;
bare 64-hex is the canonical id — #198 decision 1), project gate before
any store write, zero-fault referential gate, process fetch + v1
preflight, then aura_campaign::execute with the CLI MemberRunner over
the shipped loaded-blueprint convention: per-member blueprint reload,
reduce-mode wrap, unique suffix-join of raw campaign axis names onto
the wrapped param_space, windowed real data via the shipped ms->ns
source seam (absent archive/zero-bar windows -> NoData). Emission:
family_table / selection_report lines gated on the doc's emit list
(names debug_asserted against emit_vocabulary), the campaign_run
record line always, persist_taps deferred LOUDLY on stderr before
execution (F7 lesson), zero-survivor cells noted on stderr with exit 0.
exec_fault_prose/member_fault_prose keep the Debug-free house seam.
Seam tests: 8 campaign_run_* e2e tests incl. outside-project, bogus
target, unknown id, v1-boundary (mc process registers fine, run
refuses), persist_taps ordering, and the gated real-data
sweep->gate->walkforward e2e — which ran its full assert path on this
host (local GER40 2024-09 archive) rather than the data-less skip.
Also: exec.rs campaign-id guard tightened to lowercase hex, matching
is_content_id and the store's self-keyed form (review nit).
